Private collection Gert K. Nagel, Stuttgart, acquired before 1980
On the occasion of the 100th anniversary of Nagel Auctions, the son of the company's founder Dr. Fritz Nagel - Gert K. Nagel, who had successfully run the company for many decades - is auctioning this Frankenthal service from his private collection for the benefit of the charitable art and culture foundation G. Nagel.
Such extensive coffee services with marble trompe d'oeil from the Frankenthal manufactory are hardly known and very rare. Hoffmann lists a déjeuner with slightly differently designed handles in his Frankenthal catalogue under no. 830. Lit. Friedrich H. Hoffmann, Frankenthaler Porzellan, vol. II, plate 205.
